The Centre for Appropriate Technology is a national Indigenous science and technology organisation. CAT was established in 1980 and is incorporated under the Northern Territory Associations ACT. CAT is governed by an Indigenous Board. CAT also operates a wholly owned subsidiary, Ekistica Pty Ltd. CAT's vision is for happy and safe communities of Indigenous people CAT's purpose is to secure sustainable livelihoods through appropriate technology The key outcomes which guide CAT's efforts in pursuing its vision are:
